At Charmin's, we believe in the power of sustainable choices. We strive to not only create beautiful rings and jewelry, but also to make a positive impact on the world around us. From the production process to the packaging, we take responsibility for our ecological footprint and are committed to a greener future. But what are we really doing to make this mission come true? What is our Sustainability Policy?
Our focus is on the environment & sustainability. Since 2006, we have been taking concrete steps to reduce our impact and consciously choose green choices.
From using recycled materials to limiting our energy consumption – every decision contributes to reducing our ecological footprint.
Together for the future, we not only want to take responsibility for ourselves, but also inspire others to act more sustainably. Our actions already have a tangible impact, and by working together, we can achieve even more for the planet.
What is Charmin's Ringen/ State of Brands doing to be more sustainable?
• Recycled Silver
When we started in 2006, we only sold silver rings, and they were made from recycled silver. This was obvious to us from the start, and it still is.
Using recycled silver helps to reduce the demand for virgin material and lowers the environmental impact of production.
• Recycled Steel
Most of our steel rings are also made from recycled material.
This contributes to the circular economy and reduces the environmental impact of production.
Unfortunately, we cannot yet have all rings made from recycled steel, because the quality of the material to be recycled is essential to us. So we are dependent on the supply of high-quality recycled 316L steel, but we believe that it will become easier and more common. It is not up to us!
• Responsible Production Process & Air miles
We work with suppliers who are transparent about their sustainable practices and energy-efficient processes. For example, many of our suppliers generate their energy through solar panels. We have been working with most of them since 2006 and have consciously chosen these partners and we know the factories and workshops where our rings are produced. We have visited them regularly and now stay in touch via Zoom, so that we have been able to limit our air travel to once every three years.
This allows us to communicate both directly and honestly, while at the same time reducing our ecological impact.
• Local and Fair
Wherever possible, we work with local companies. We believe in supporting the regions in which we operate, both economically and socially.
• Shipping from Asia by train
In addition, we ensure that, where possible, our products are shipped by train from Asia. This is a more expensive, longer but much more sustainable solution compared to air transport.
• Sustainable Materials
At Charmin's, we have been committed to using recycled materials since the beginning, both for our rings and for the packaging. By using as much recycled material as possible, we have been contributing, however small, to reducing waste and supporting the circular economy since 2006.
We receive used packaging and boxes from other companies on our business park, which would otherwise be thrown away.
Since 2006, we have been reusing these materials, which is not only good for the environment, but also for our cost savings.
• Plastic Reduction
Although it is unfortunately not always possible to work completely without plastic, we do our best to limit its use as much as possible.
Instead of purchasing new plastic packaging, we reuse all the plastic we receive and, where possible, have the rings wrapped in paper.
This approach helps us to minimize the ecological impact.
• Reusable Packaging
Our commitment to sustainability goes beyond recycled material and plastic reduction. We ensure that the packaging we use is reusable, so that it can be used multiple times.
For example, we receive old newspapers from neighbors, which we use as filling material for our boxes. Every step counts, and by reusing packaging repeatedly, we help reduce the amount of new packaging material put into circulation.
